A cold air intake is an aftermarket add-on. In other words, it’s an engine modification, and it doesn’t come standard on your vehicle. If you’ve bought a used vehicle, the previous owner may have added this component.
A cold air intake works to help your car engine breathe more effectively by moving the air filter to the upper wheel well where there is more cool air and less hot air. It reduces the air temperature while improving the air flow. The effect is more power when the throttle is wide open. Simply stated, it’s a way of increasing car engine performance.
If you have a cold air intake installed on your vehicle, you should have it checked out when you bring your car in for servicing. If your goal is increased performance, and the intake is malfunctioning, you won’t get the results you expect. If you suspect the cold air intake is causing vehicle problems, have it looked at by one of our expert mechanics.
If you think your car is losing horsepower, have a qualified mechanic check out your performance issues. It will not cause further problems unless unfiltered air is entering the engine. If that is the case, have the cold air intake replaced right away.
Tell us what the problem is (e.g the car is not starting or I need new shock absorbers). What kind of car you drive and your contact information.
